End of an Era for Mawdesley Couple

A Mawdesley village couple are planning to pack their bags and emigrate to France – not because they are unhappy – but because they have a dream of living in the sun in a village house next to the sea.

John and Sue Ayres are not a typical couple. Happily married since 1967, it seems the big family home and detached studio has become too big for just two.

John is a Francophile who uses his two and a half hours commute to Bury Market – to learn French which he wants to use every day. Sue is a painter and glass artist who loves to be in her Studio and longs to work in the sun. Once they’ve sold - they’ll be off to find a rocky sea view.
